If you need additional information, or you do not find the answers you need here, please email us or call 269/329-4544.
- Most items may be renewed once for an additional week, unless they are in high demand or have been requested by another user.
- All library material is subject to overdue charges when not returned by the due date; there is no grace period. This applies to library users of all ages. Click on Fines & Fees in the left toolbar for current rates, as rates differ by type of material.
- Library material that is damaged though improper or careless usage or is not returned in its complete state is subject to a replacement charge. We do not charge for slight, repairable damage that occurs as normal wear and tear.
- Items may be requested in several ways.
- If the item you are looking for is checked out, you may place a request for it to be held for you through our public access catalog or by asking a librarian. Request queues are formed for high demand items. You will be notified by standard mail or email when your requested item becomes available. Standard mail notification is subject to a fee, whereas email notification is free.
- If the item you are looking for is not in our collection, you can request that we order it. Older items may be ordered via interlibrary loan; new items may be ordered for the collection.
- If you would like to have your library notices sent to you via email, you must either let us know at your next visit, contact the Checkout Desk 329-4544, or fill out our online form to request the change to your account.
- We do not impose any limits on the number of items that may be checked out on any account.
- We offer free memberships to resident members of a number of area libraries. In turn, resident members of Portage District Library may get free memberships from these libraries.
- Items can be returned to the Checkout Desk during open hours or to our outdoor return. The outdoor return is open 24/7 and is located on the south side of the building facing the Senior Center.
