The Heritage Room contains a wide variety of township and city records for Portage, Michigan. These records are available to view free of charge and may be copied for ten (10) cents per page however they are not allowed to circulate from the building. Due to the sheer volume of the material, virtually all of the city records remain un-catalogued and are housed in a separate storage area requiring an appointment with the local historian to access. To schedule an appointment or for further information please call the local historian at (269) 329-4542 ext. 608.
The Heritage Room currently possesses the following City Documents. To simplify sorting, these documents have arranged by standard year not by Portage’s fiscal year.
A detailed list of city documents is coming soon.
If you do not see a specific report that you are looking for, it is recommended that you try the on-line catalogue search. A small portion of the city’s more influential reports have been catalogued and placed on the shelves in the public area of the Heritage Room.
A detailed list of tax rolls is coming soon.
