Portage History This program discusses the settlement of southern Portage Township, Kalamazoo County Michigan, beginning in 1831 and continuing until the 1900’s. Mr. Rossio’s costume represents a Portage Farmer from the 1850’s. Accompanying the costume is a display of artifacts from Portage’s and Southwest Michigan’s history including pioneer books, photographs and more.
