All of the meeting rooms, with the exception
of the Long Lake Room, contain “state of the art” built
in multi-media equipment. This equipment includes the following:
A DVD or Digital Video Disk system is contained within the Austin
Lake, Sugarloaf Lake, West Lake and Gourdneck Lake Rooms. It plays
through a ceiling mounted projector with the sound being piped through
a series of built in ceiling speakers. In addition to playing DVDs
this system is also capable of playing music and audio CD’s
if the situation is called for.
A Video Cassette Recorder system is also contained within the all
of the rooms with the exception of the Long Lake Room. As with the
DVD, the tapes are broadcast onto the screen via the ceiling mounted
projector.
Each of the four rooms (Austin, Sugarloaf, West and Gourdneck) features
computer projector capabilities for those wishing to conduct a PowerPoint
presentation. As with the various video equipment, the PowerPoint
image is broadcast to the screen via the ceiling mounted projector.
Along with the visual capabilities, each of the rooms, with the
exception of Long Lake, contains a wireless microphone capability.
In addition to the
equipment permanently contained within the meeting room themselves,
the Portage District Library also has available “older technology”
for those who may need it for their presentation. There is no additional
cost for this equipment; however, it should be reserved when booking
your room. The equipment is older and therefore it is recommended
that a borrower try a dry run at least twenty-four hours prior to
their presentation to ensure that the equipment is both compatible
with their material and in working order.
The overhead projector is available for presentations in which overheads
are necessary. This unit may also be used for tracing items onto
larger sheets of paper hung on the wall. Please ask for assistance
if using the machine for this purpose. This machine is available
for use in all of the meeting rooms.
The slide projector is available for those wishing to conduct a
slide presentation. Due the variance of slide carousels it is strongly
recommended that anyone wishing to use this machine make arrangements
to try the compatibility of their slide carousel with the Portage
District Library’s slide machine at least twenty-four hours
prior to their program. Empty carousels are available with the machine.
The movie projector is a standard “school style” reel-to-reel
projector.
Like the movie projector, the film strip projector is a standard
school model. This machine DOES NOT have a built in cassette player.
The borrower must provide his/her own cassette recorder for their
program if needed.
