Friends of the Portage District Library: Easter Egg Hunt Event Ends

For the past six years, the Friends of the Portage District Library has sponsored a community Easter Egg Hunt. After the 2010 event, the Board of the Friends organization re-evaluated their sponsorship of the Easter Egg Hunt in terms of the time, effort and financial commitments provided by the Friends and the event’s overall benefit to the library. While the event was well received by the public, it was a challenge to sustain and did not suit the main goal of the Friends organization to provide financial support for the library. Ultimately, the Board of the Friends organization, decided to end their financial and time commitments to the Easter Egg Hunt event in 2011. The funds previously used for the Easter Egg Hunt will be redirected to fund other library events, activities, or programs that would draw more attention to the library itself and encourage broader community participation.
