At the Creation Station, we have a computer equipped with Adobe Creative Cloud and a variety of other software for web design, graphics, video editing, and more. Schedule a visit to the Creation Station to explore the creative possibilities!

What can you do at the Creation Station?

• Digitize slides, photos, 8 mm film, Super 8 film, and negatives.
• Design cards, collages, invitations, calendars, or other printable objects.
• Convert VCR tapes to a digital format.
• Design a logo or other graphics.
• Convert audio cassettes to a digital format.


The Creation Station is a self-directed working space.

It is the responsibility of all of our patrons to learn how to use the resources and develop their own project ideas. Librarians will be available for limited assistance if they are not working at the desk or busy helping other patrons.

We have excellent resources for you to learn how to use the powerful software at the Creation Station. In addition to print resources, all Portage District Library resident cardholders have free access to LinkedIn Learning (formerly Go to LinkedIn Learning and sign in with your library card to start your learning today.

Creation Station Hours

Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Friday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
Saturday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM

Reserve a time to use the Creation Station:

You can use the Creation Station for up to three hours per day. Reservations can be made up to a month in advance. You can reserve a time online or call the Adult Information Desk at 269-329-4544 ext. 1 to secure a spot.

Be sure to bring your own personal digital storage device for your work or store your work on your preferred cloud storage system.

Creation Station Resources

There is a Windows digitization station available at the Creation Station. You will need to bring your own personal storage device for your converted media. This station is equipped with the following devices:

Epson V800 Slide Scanner

Scan slides, negatives, photos, and documents with the Epson flatbed scanner.

Epson Fast Foto Scanner

Scan thousands of photos as fast as 1 photo per second at 300 dpi, and batch-scan up to 35 photos at a time. This device also has a document scanner with character recognition which converts scanned images into readable text.

Vidbox Video Conversion Suite

Convert your VHS videos to digital using the Vidbox Video Conversion suite.

Ion Audio Tape to PC

Convert your audio cassette tapes to MP3s using the Ion Tape 2 PC Converter.

Wolverine Movie Maker Pro

Convert your old Super 8 or 8-mm film to digital using the Wolverine Movie Maker Pro. This device does not provide audio conversion. To use this device, you need to complete a short orientation on it, and you can do that either by coming to the Creation Station during staffed hours or by making an appointment. To make an appointment, either contact Jane Fleming at or call the Adult Information Desk at 269-329-4544 ext. 1. You will need an SD card of 32 g or lower to store your completed digitized film.
