Our Equipment
Cricut Maker 3
The Cricut Maker 3 allows you to create DIY projects with precision. It can be used to cut out fabric patterns or create vinyl decals, and can cut through a wide array of other materials. The best file format to use for your designs is a scalable vector graphic (SVG). You can create SVG files using tools like Adobe’s Photoshop or Illustrator which are available on our Creation Station Computers.
You can drop in to use one of our two Cricut Makers, but reservations are strongly recommended.
If you have never used a Cricut Maker before, please drop by during our Staffed Hours for a brief orientation on the machine before scheduling to use the Cricut Maker on a project. Contact us with your questions if you don’t know what material to purchase for your project or if you are unsure if the material you need is compatible with the Cricut Maker.
Costs
Use of the Cricut Maker is free. Patrons are encouraged to check the Cricut website and bring their own supplies that are compatible. Materials can be purchased on Amazon, most big box stores, local craft stores and online craft stores such as Swing Design, Expressions Vinyl, and many more. Orocal and Siser (for heat transfer vinyl, HTV) are reliable brands as well. Ask our staff about our heat presses if you are interested in using heat transfer paper or vinyl to embellish a t-shirt or other fabric item.
ChompSaw
The ChompSaw is a kid-safe table saw for cutting cardboard, paper, fabric, and craft foam, letting young creators build and create safely. While this is a kid-safe item, it is still a power tool and must be used with adult supervision and during Staffed Hours. Stop by the Makerspace and give it a try!
